At Bluefields Counselling & Psychotherapy, we recognize that the mental health needs of Indigenous peoples are deeply shaped by history, community, and culture.

We honour the resilience of Indigenous communities and acknowledge the enduring impacts of colonization, displacement, and systemic inequities.
Our therapists offer a culturally responsive, trauma-informed approach that blends traditional knowledge with Western practices. We believe healing is relational, it happens through connection to land, spirit, community, and self.
Therapy with Bluefields is not about fixing you, it’s about walking beside you as you rediscover balance, strength, and belonging.
You Don’t Have to Walk This Path Alone

Your story, your culture, and your healing matters.

Connect with a therapist who honours your identity and walks beside you on your journey toward balance and belonging.

Why Indigenous Therapy Matters

Many Indigenous individuals share that they have felt unseen, invalidated, or retraumatized in healthcare systems that didn’t understand their history or culture.
Many Indigenous individuals share that they have felt unseen, invalidated, or retraumatized in healthcare systems that didn’t understand their history or culture.

Our therapists are trained in culturally safe, anti-oppressive, and trauma-informed care. When desired, we collaborate with community Elders, Knowledge Keepers, or healers to ensure your care aligns with your traditions and values.

Need Financial Support for Mental Health Services?

The Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) Program, funded by Indigenous Services Canada, provides health-related services to eligible First Nations and Inuit people across Canada. The program covers up to 22 hours of counselling per calendar year, with the option to request additional sessions when needed.

How It Works

02

Personalized Care Plan

Together, we’ll create a therapy plan tailored to your unique needs, goals, and cultural context. Every session is built around what matters most to you.

03

Ongoing Support & Growth

Healing takes time—and we’re here for every step. We’ll check in regularly, adapt your plan as needed, and celebrate your growth along the way.
